I'm a father!

Well, my life has just changes. My wife gave birth to our daughter on the 3rd of June at 5:01am. It was a very long labor, ending with a caesarean.

I am beside myself at the moment. Life is different now, very happy though :-)

PROBLEMS: I Need help!

Hi everyone.

I have a BIG problem and I'm hoping that someone can help me out...

I joined up with 000webhost.com as they provide both MySQL and PHP services, however the host appends some analytical code to all of my HTML pages, and this code returns errors when I validate my XHTML through w3c.org.

What can I do? Does anyone have a solution?

To make matters worse, my previous web host (www.50webs.com) have just gone through a big upgrade and now I don't have FTP access to my site. So, one web host I can't access using FTP and the other appends garbage at the end of and outside of my HTML.

We're supposed to not have any errors returned when to page is validated, but through no fault of my own I now have the risk of being penalised because someone else is writing unwanted analytical code to my HTML documents.

Please, can anyone help me with the problem???

Thanks in advance.

Weekly updates for DMT

This is a section in my blog where I report on what has happened during my studies in the subject Digital Media Technologies (DMT).

If anyone who is also a part of the subject at UTS would like to add to my comments, please do - I enjoy online collaboration :-)

RESOURCE: A List Apart

I was looking through the source code of wiki.it.uts.edu.au/start/Faculty_Web_Servers and noticed that the author gave thanks to A List Apart.

I went to the website and had a quick look through. I believe that this site will come in handy for my learning in regard to Digital Media Technologies, and so I thought that it might also come in handy for you too.

Thanks to the wonderful comments left by the author (Gabriel Wicke) of wiki.it.uts.edu.au/start/Faculty_Web_Servers

Learning Proposal: Question - Writing Style?

Hello Viveka and all DMT'er.

I want to know what the writing style of the Learning Proposal should be. As I am writing my proposal, I find that I am writing in the first person, like I am talking to the person who will be reading it (Viveka).

Is this acceptable for the Learning Proposal?

Thank you to those who read this post and a big thank you to the one who can answer my question.

An initial project idea...

Self Promotional Website

I've been thinking about it and I don't have a self promotional website, a place where I can really showcase my skills to the world and prospective clients and employers. I think that I can design a site that is like an online portfolio but with more substance. I want users to feel like they are a part of my website too.

To achieve this I think I would include the follow as a feature set in my site:

  • List of and demonstration of my skills

    • Platforms (PC/MAC)
    • Multimedia

      • Photoshop
      • Illustrator
      • InDesign
      • Flash
      • HTML
      • Javascript
      • Sound
      • Video
      • 3D (Max - PC based)
      • Instructional/Interactive Design

  • My Universities (SCU & UTS)
  • My Blog

    • Public discussion blog/forum (BACK-END)

  • Tutorials (only for members)

    • Need to find out about the reproduction (©) of ADOBE software interface elements (i.e. screen shots & edited screen shots

  • Games (SWF)
  • Guest book
  • RSS Feeds (of interesting things)
  • Maybe some space for future advertising (maybe make some cash on the side)
  • My Profile

    • About me with picture
    • About my family with pictures (members only)

  • Join my site/become a member...

The above might be a tall order, and I will need some back-end, server-side stuff happening so that I can have members and so that those members can have special privileges within my site (i.e. access to specific areas, write privileges to the blog area...).

I wonder if I can do this???
P.S. Sorry for such a big read :-P
